With the board exams coming to end, students all over the world, are driven by anxiety. They are confused about what next? Well, we are here to help. Established in 1922 Delhi University or DU as it is popularly known, is one of the premier institutions in the country. It offers courses in both undergraduate and post-graduation. Divided into two beautiful campuses, it offers a variety of courses, from degree to certificate courses as well as the diploma. Let me now take you into the interiors of some of the top colleges of the university.

1. St Stephen's college:
It is not only the top college of DU but of India as a whole. It is one of the two colleges, (Jesus and Mary being the second) which has 50% seats reserved for the students from the Christian community. Let me tell you that this college has its own admission process. Designed by the famous Welsh Architect, Sykes George, it has one of the exceptional infrastructures in the campus that will take your breath away on entering the gate. It offers courses in liberal arts and sciences.

Interesting fact: The college is known for its one of the best libraries. It has preserved manuscripts in Sanskrit and Persian languages.

2. Lady Shri Ram College for Women:
Spread in 15 acres, in the lush green area of Lajpat Nagar, this college is one of the first choices of women across the country who want to pursue their career in Arts and Commerce. The college was established in 1956 and has been holding a reputation for being India's top women's college for a very long time.

Interesting fact: Shahid Kapoor's wife Meera Rajput is an alumni of this college.

3. Hindu College:
Spread across 25 acres, the college with its well maintained and abundant greenery can surely leave you spellbound. The century old college offers courses in liberal arts, science and has 120 accomplished faculty.

4. Miranda House:
With its aesthetically appealing infrastructure of warm red bricks, Miranda House can surely leave you mesmerised instantly. Established by the last viceroy of India Lord and Lady Mountbatten, in the year 1948, the college has been synonymous for being a prestigious top women's college in the country. The college has a very active placement cell which has placed its students with reputed firms such as Wipro, Genpact, Google and so on. Recently this college has been declared as a 'Heritage building'. The college has a newly renovated canteen, which offers sumptuous food of different varieties.

5. Hansraj College:
Formerly a college only for men, this DAV college became co-ed in the year 1978. For the past many years, it has been excelling in all three streams of education. Besides this, the college is famous for its extensive sports complex, badminton hall and a fully AC shooting range.

Interesting fact: The college has one of the best location for foodies and shopaholics. The hostel gate of men's hostel opens doors into the world of Kamla Nagar Market. It is a second home for the students of DU.

6. Ramjas College:
It is one of the first three colleges established under DU along with Hindu college and St. Stephen's college. The college is famous for its rich history and tradition and is one of the many colleges in DU which has gradually climbed up to the status of a top college. It is also one of the few colleges that have hostel facilities for both boys and girls.

Interesting fact: The college conducted the first ever conference of Graduate students of Economics which saw the participation of students from SAARC countries in the year 2004.

7. Shri Ram College of Commerce:
Popular for its extremely high cut off, this college as the name suggests is India's one of the top commerce colleges. The air-conditioned classrooms, the unique clock tower, the gym, swimming pool makes the college unique from others. The college also has an excellent placement service which has been successfully placing its students worldwide.

8. Indraprastha college: 
The college has its origins in the IP Girls School founded by the eminent theosophist, Annie Besant. It was transformed into a college in 1924 with the intermediate studies. Famous for its excellent sports infrastructure and a swimming pool, this college is located slightly away from the main campus. It offers courses in both undergraduate and post-graduation in Arts and Commerce streams. The good fact about the college is that it has two hostel facilities accommodating about 200 students.

9. Venkateshwar College: 
Popularly known as Venky, this college is located in the South Extension area of Satyaniketan. It offers courses in undergraduate programmes in all three streams. The special feature about the college is that it college offers vocational and short-term add-on courses which can definitely supplement your resume.

Interesting fact: Just like Hansraj college of the North campus, Venky is located opposite to Satya, a famous hangout place for the students of South Campus.

10. Jesus and Mary College: 
With its location in the diplomatic area of Chanakyapuri, the college with its magnificent large auditorium can surely cast a spell on you! It is one of the two colleges (St. Stephen's being the other) with 50% reservation for Christians. It offers undergraduate courses in Arts and Science as well as offers short-term add-on courses in mass communication, Radio jockeying and so on. The Taj CCD located nearby is the second home to the JMCites. Another distinguishing feature of this college is that it has been doing exceptionally well in sports and extracurricular activities regularly for the past years.

  1.  The college has its own independent Students' union separate from Delhi University Students Union (DUSU)
  2.  You are totally going to fall in love with the little stationary shop inside the college. It has a variety of notebooks, books, stickers, colourful pens and greetings card!
