The Virtual world of Gadgets!

Nisha was checking Facebook on her smartphone in the park and suddenly someone’s phone rang. She got devastated and started searching her phone in her pocket, forgetting the fact that it was right in her hand and she was looking at it! She laughed patting her forehead and took a look around embarrassed on herself. She kept her phone aside gazing the view, the park was greener after the rainy season. Beautiful flowers on the sides of jogging track were blossoming fresh breeze, she took a long breath of that fresh air, which never comes into her fully AC house and office. An old lady was sitting beside her on the bench doing Pranayam(Yoga). Many people were walking and jogging on the track. It was early in the morning yet some kids were playing in the kid's area, accompanied by their grandparents or parents. These kids don’t have school? She thought of herself and suddenly realised it’s a Ganapati festival time and kids have holidays for a week. Grey hairs (Old men and women) were resting on the benches and on green grass chit chatting with each other about their family issues or new products launched by Yoga baba. She regularly comes to that park for jogging but never saw anybody or anything around. Either she gets busy listening to the music while running or chatting with her virtual social network friends when resting on the bench since she checks her Whatsapp message and finishes forwarding them before going back home.

Nisha 25 year single girl, works as a manager in a finance company, lives in Mumbai with her mother, who is a housewife and she means a life to her mother. She is a scholar student scoring distinction in her MBA, achieved a good job while in the campus. Busy girl works 10-12 hours a day planning and achieving her targets! 2 hours she spends on travelling to office and home through bus, using mobile in her hand! she sleeps 6 hours and runs for an hour and remaining hours she gave to her smartphone along with routine eating, bathing etc., in 24 hours she barely gives 10 minutes to her mother while on dinner table, that to her mother had to snatch out mobile from her hand to talk with her about marriage proposals and stuff. There is hardly any moment in her life where she is away from her mobile, she goes with her mobile even in the toilet! Apart from chatting and pictures, she does everything on her mobile from reading the news to watching movies. During weekends she is busy with her friends or working from home.

Today after the incident, which actually fooled an intelligent girl! She kept her gadget aside and sat with a peace! Observed everything around and cherished the beautiful nature and happy old people and future generation, who were away from the technology (Well! at least in that moment!). However, she also saw her clones, technology freaks just like her, busy with their phones while jogging and chatting in the park. She smiled and drown into her thoughts after looking at the old lady beside her. She didn’t remember when was the last time, she saw her mother’s face? Whenever her mother talks to her, she was busy with the phone, her mother has become just a live figure in the home, who prepares food and takes care of her.

She rushed to the home and opened the door with her key, searched her mother everywhere shouting Maa! Her mother didn’t answer! She got scared, her heartbeats increased, last she saw her mother previous morning while leaving for office. previous night she came late from party after work having dinner outside. She messaged her mother about it. As usual, if she gets late and her mother goes to bed after her routine. She slept in her room after coming back and didn’t check on her mother while going to jogging in the morning! Many scary thoughts came in her mind in that instant. Till that day, she wished good morning to the world! Spoke to everyone in the office, she chatted for hours with her virtual friends, whom she never met! In every group, she exchanged jokes and pictures, enjoyed useless videos of funny animals and humans! But hardly spoke a word with her mother, whose life is Nisha after the unfortunate death of her father. Then she heard a sound from the kitchen, she rushed towards and saw her mother busy washing clothes in the duct area of kitchen, which she missed while searching, she rushed and hugged her mother. Asking ‘Why didn’t you answer me? I was shouting and looking for you all around!’ her astonished mother stared at her; she held Nisha’s cheeks with a concern and asked ‘What happened are you alright?’ Nisha observed her mother didn’t wear her hearing aid. She searched all over, it was on the fridge, she grabbed it and placed it in her mother’s ear and repeated her question. ‘No one talks to me, what is the use of wearing it?’ Her mother smiled with sarcastic reply and went back to washing machine. That brought tears in the eyes of Nisha, she hugged her mother and promised herself that she will use her smartphone only when necessary.

This is a story of everyone in present era. We all accept this fact because we all have Nisha in ourselves. The smart phones and advanced social network connects us with the world but we are going away from the people, whom we mean a world. We discuss these things many times and forward these types of messages as well joke on this issue, yet again we are so much addicted to this devise that we can’t imagine our life without this gadget because Smart phones are getting smarter and making us dumb directly or indirectly.

We adults spend all the time on social network. We finish our work as fast as possible to sit on chat or to check the messages and in worst cases we don’t work at all in the addiction! We forget to switch off gas until milk gets boiled and becomes Basundi! We have all the good food to eat and comfortable bed to sleep yet we don’t eat properly and don’t sleep in this addiction! If we go to tours and places we are busy taking selfies and pictures rather than enjoying the moment! We actually see things in pictures clicked by us instead of taking a look from our own god gifted EYES, which are priceless. Capturing a moment is good thing but enjoying the moment is best thing which we forgot! We never imagine of breaking of our mobile and accidentally if it’s broken, we get so much irritated because we paid heavy amount like 40-70K in buying this expensive gadget, which has become a status symbol! I wonder how some people can not even afford them, yet buy them on EMI’s and do the same chatting and calling, which 10-15K mobiles does! They never think that the features that 70k mobile has is equal to 15k mobile.

Next generation is not behind anything, they are following same footsteps in which this generation is moving on. Kids spend hours on video games and social networks. They score higher points in all their virtual games but they don’t know how to play actual street games as they hardly go to play outside. It’s not their fault, people in metro believe it’s not safe to send kids out without security! If parents accompany them (with their mobiles!) they do not enjoy their kids play as they are busy with their mobiles there as well! This is a story of every metro city person and slowly suburbs are also coming under the claw of this gadget world!

I believe in the future, with this new era of virtual reality, people will become a racehorse, tying glasses on their eyes and seeing things only from their virtual glass box! There was an era when Television was blamed as Idiot Box to spoil the new generation! But then, it wasn’t this bad, kids actually met their friends by going to their home without taking an appointment on the phone! They spent hours on street games, had fun chatting face to face enjoying each others company. If they visited places they had a memory of moments in their mind, which was never dumped into the laptop from mobile and never erased. That time has gone and everything which remained is this gadget virtual world!

To conclude, on one side these smart phone mobiles have made human life easy in every manner, but slowly it’s also spoiling their personal life. I have placed my thoughts on it and I would like to take your poll on this matter how you feel about it? Do comment and let me know.
