My First Memorable Experience in New York City

I always wanted to travel to New York - Great New York! Such an amazing city that was named twice. When I was aboard the British Airways flight, I so wanted it to touch down at JFK, one of the world’s busiest airports, that I kept asking the air hostess how long the flight duration was even I had gathered enough knowledge on the city that never slept. Get going to New York to prepare yourself for that touch of discovery to one of the greatest cities in the world.

I can recall the time when the flight touched on the American soil at least for me, as it was my first time in New York (of course). It was twilight! And the city was looking so fascinating illuminated by small lights scattered all around.

I was head over heels in love with the New York City or NYC that I thought about taking an extension to my visa but in vain. I had to leave the city on my way back home as per the specified time limit.

One of the most admired tourist destinations in the world, obviously for good reasons, I could realise why tourists were involved in the great rush for comparing cheap flights to New York. They had to bag the discounted deal so that they could keep their savings aside and utilise them on shopping or checking out tourist attractions NYC’s long been boasting of.

I was quite amazed to know that the great New York City had plenty of nicknames and why it wouldn’t. A city where life is always on the go must be honoured with multiple names one could think of. Well, ask any New Yorker and their faces sinking with immense pride can be felt the moment you get up close and personal with them.

There’s something for every personality type in New York, which will surely suit their style, taste, and budget. However, many are living with a perception that the fabulous New York City with jaw-dropping attractions tempts only well-to-do travellers, but let me assure you there’s nothing of that sort. When a budget traveller like me could grab the finest deal on New York flights, I don’t think that any traveller with a limited budget would have to face hassles.

Getting to Know New York City

New York, the most populated city in the United States, has more than 8 million people living in the city. Also, this global metropolis is the most diverse American city, with people from almost every corner of the world.

A city of several names is what New York is known for. “The Big Apple” and “The City That Never Sleeps” are the two names that many used to refer to the awe-inspiring American town. This city has even been an inspiration for many songs, especially the classic by Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”

I was just left in awe when I had a close encounter with some of the spectacular attractions in NYC. More than 40 million people visit New York to witness the beauty of Art Deco buildings – such as the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. The museums and art galleries can’t afford to be missed by someone who’s not even fond of arts as they’re bound to be charmed by the displays.

I enjoyed some of the amazing views of the Manhattan skyline from atop the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Centre and Times Square in Midtown Manhattan is the most popular attraction in the U.S.

Then I took a break from the city life in enjoying the natural beauty of Central Park in Upper Manhattan.

While some of the hottest New York City Tourist Attractions include Ground Zero Museum Workshop, 9/11 Memorial Museum, The Metropolitan Opera, Empire State Building Skip the Line, Times Square, Statue of Liberty and much more, I’d recommend every traveller to go for New York Explorer Pass. Why waste money on unreasonably high entrance fees at NYC tourist attractions when you can get the Explorer Pass. With this pass, you’ll be able to get into all the museums and art galleries without having to pay a hefty admission fee.

What can I say about the scrumptious food the New York City charms travellers with? Believe me when I say that the food in NYC is something to die for. Mexican-style corn from Café Habana was the one I drooled over. The masterpiece comprised of grilled corn in a creamy blend strewn with cayenne pepper and rolled in cotija cheese as well as sprinkle with lime juice. It took my taste buds on a joy ride I never wanted to get off from.

Well, I can go on, and on but I would have to take a break here. I will leave the rest for you to cover on your own. I really had a great time in New York City on my first visit and plan to visit again soon.
