India produces nearly six million of MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree holders every year. Less than 10% of the candidates pursue the course because of their own aptitude or interest. While, rest of the candidates complete the course, because of the lure of the money that private institutes often promise a candidate will receive after completion of the said course via placement.
What happens, in reality, is totally different. Once the honeymoon period aka the contractual period of a few months’ job via a placement agency is over, candidate finds it hard to get a new job.

There are mainly two factors that give rise to unemployment of MBA degree holders in India;
(1) Lack of proper soft-spoken and interpersonal skills.
(2) Candidates don’t know their inner calling even after completing MBA.
Only 7% of MBAs are Employable in India
Around 93% of the MBA-passed candidates don’t know why they did the course, what their career goals are and whether the said course is in sync with the demand of the time or not. FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and Ernst and Young (EY) compiled a report last year making this shocking claim that only 7% of MBAs are actually employable.
No doubt, the mushrooming of the widespread MBA colleges across everywhere in the country is creating a pool of “Unemployed MBAs” without showing them the actual path to progress and success. Big-big institutes charge a lot of money for MBA courses, yet the job prospect for these candidates remains gloomy.
